With the church in Newport on your right, proceed out of the town, then take the B5062 SP Shrewsbury.
Turn left SP Edgmond.

Quite a large village with a nice blend of old and new buildings. The church of St. Peter has 13th century origins. Beside it stands the magnificent old rectory. In Edgmond, turn left into Robin Lane. Turn left, SP Lilleshall (The church will be on the right).
Turn right SP Telford, then immediately left, SP Lilleshall.

Lilleshall
This is a pleasant village on the slopes of Lilleshall Hill, which is distinctive because its obelisk, a memorial to George Greville, Duke of Sutherland, can be seen for some distance. There are nice views of East Shropshire from its summit. The church is a fine structure with Norman origins.
Turn left at T-junction, SP Lilleshall Abbey. Lilleshall Abbey consists of extensive and impressive ruins of an Abbey founded around 1148. Turn right at T-junction.

Sheriff Hales
A rather pleasant and tiny village with a wealth of character. In Sheriff Hales, turn right into Church Lane.
Continue straight over X-roads. Turn right at T-junction. This road passes through a ford. Turn left at Triangle-junction. Turn right at roundabout on the A41 SP Wolverhampton. Turn left SP Tong.

Tong
A small huddle of picturesque houses beside a magnificent church. Perhaps a little spoilt by the noise of the traffic on the M54. Take first right opposite Tong Church.
Turn right, SP Bishop's Wood and Brewood. In Bishop's Wood, turn right at X-roads.
Turn left, SP Boscobel House.

Boscobel
Boscobel House once stood in extensive woodland and was the place where Charles II hid in an oak tree whilst fleeing from the Battle of Worcester.
Further down this road stands White Ladies Priory, another place where Charles II sought refuge.
Straight over at X-roads, SP Albrighton. Turn left at Triangle junction into Albrighton.

Albrighton
A large and pleasant village on the Staffordshire border, which is sometimes mistaken as a suburb of Wolverhampton. The church is imposing with Norman origins. Opposite is the timber framed Shrewsbury Arms. Turn right at the centre of Albrighton, SP Shifnal. Turn right at T-junction, SP Telford. Take first left, SP Beckbury, then first right, SP Beckbury.

Beckbury
A pleasant village with a much restored Norman church. Turn left in Beckbury, SP Badger.

Badger
Probably the most picturesque village in east Shropshire. Well worth a look. Turn left at T-junction (no SP) then immediately right Turn left, SP Worfield. Bear left at junction.
|Turn left next to Old Vicarage Hotel down a narrow road past Worfield church. Bear right beside the church into the older part of Worfield village.

Worfield
A pleasant village in a hillside beside the river Worfe. The magnificent church is dedicated to St. Peter. Worth a visit. Bear left at triangle junction. (SP was broken) Turn right on A454, SP Bridgnorth, then immediately left, SP Claverley. Turn right at T-junction into Claverley.

Claverley
Another village on a hillside. The church is imposing and interesting to visit. With the 15th century vicarage beside it, it makes a very pleasant picture. Turn right pat the church. Follow signpost for Bridgnorth.
Turn right on A458 SP Bridgnorth.
This road passes the Midland Motor Museum which is open daily, except Christmas Day. It houses the largest collection of sports cars and motorcycles in the county. Well worth a visit for anyone remotely interested in motor sport.

Bridgnorth
A lovely town on a hill, with plenty to do. It is an ancient market town straddling the river Severn, comprising Low Town and High Town. The High Town area is situated on top of 100 foot sandstone cliffs, and is serviced by the cliff railway, as well as access by road.

The approx. distance of this drive is 40 miles. The most direct return route is on the A447 and A4169 to Shifnal, then B4379 and A41 to Newport.
