At Coalport, some of the world's most beautiful porcelain was once made on the banks of the River Severn. The remains of the old works now form the Coalport China Museum, demonstration workshops and a delightful shop, as well as an adjacent restaurant, and Youth Hostel. From here you may stroll along part of the Coalport Canal close by, don a hard hat and walk underground in the Tar Tunnel, an amazing source of natural bitumen discovered 200 years ago. |
